   Loitering culture is the practice of gathering without direction, goals, objectives, mission and vision. This culture usually involving teenagers, whether the school, college or university. Unfortunately, UNIMAP’s students also involve in loitering culture, either in campus or outside. This situation is good for the students? In fact, loitering culture has its pluses and minuses.

   We cannot see this culture as negative things only, because it also has a positive side. For example, while loitering at a restaurant, stall, shopping mall and the others, teenagers can spend their time to talk and discuss each other. In that cases, they can spend their time to discuss a lot of things like to complete the assignments, meeting in a group for such event and so on. In UNIMAP area, we can see a lot of students love to loitering at a food stall while dinner and lunch time, at a bus stop, at open hall, library and others.

    What we  have seen, many UNIMAP’s students spend too much time at a restaurant while dinner time. They loitering with their friends and talk each other, smoking and gathering without clear mission. However, we also seen a part of student brings their laptop, books and assignment at a restaurant while waiting for their meals.

   This culture just can waste the time. Loitering without direction will make the students do not get any benefit and only lost their time. It is more better if they can spend their time to study together, discussing about a subject, and do the assignment together. As a university’s student, we have to finish a lot of work in a short time. So that, we should not waste our time with a gathering without direction.

   As a university student, we must protect the good name of our institution. In public area such as in town, in shopping mall, and restaurant, we have to show a good attitude, this is because attitude reflects our personality. Loitering, making noise and having fun in open area can make the public uneasy with us. This situation can make public judge our institution too. The public can know who are us, because Perlis is only a small state, they can easy to recognise us either we are UNIMAP’s students or not.
